Striders prepare for the big London race!

DEDICATED members of the Billericay Striders have stepped up a gear to get into shape for the forthcoming London Marathon.

The group meets at Hannakins Farm Sports Centre, in Rosebay Avenue, and members have pounded the town's streets at least twice a week to prepare.

Club spokesman Ian Grant said: "We have 19 runners in the marathon. Most are running for charities, which include St Luke's Hospice, Farleigh, Mind, the Stroke Association, the NSPCC and Cancer Research."

The marathon takes place this Sunday, April 22.
