SHOPS in Billericay High Street are queueing up to support the town's largest mass participation event - a 10K running race.

The event is being organised by Billericay Striders, who this year have named it the PBM 10k, after its main supporters - estate agents ParaBarMuir.

The race will start at Hannakins Community Centre at 9.45am on Sunday, November 4.

The scenic route is via Queens Park Avenue, Ingatestone Road, Mountnessing Road and the finish line is at Brightside School.

Around 700 people will take part.

ParaBarMuir is providing each finisher with a souvenir T-shirt.

Waitrose will give every runner a banana when they cross the finish line and Essex and Suffolk Water will hand out bottled water.

The event is also being sponsored by Secrets Hair and Beauty Salon.

Manager Steve Winder said: "There will be a £50 cash prize for male and female runners who break the course record.
