Tiptree 10 sees Bloomfield win again

Crispian Bloomfield notched up his second successive victory in the Tiptree 10, making it four victories in a row for his club Billericay Striders.

Crispian, who had run a tough race in the Essex cross-country league the day before, finished in 54:05, almost a minute clear of Springfield Strider, Paul Molyneux who ran 55:03. David Laing, who was first V40, finished a good third in 56:58.

Chelmsford AC's Keith Wilkinson retained his V50 title, running 60:09 to finish 6th overall. First V60 went to Roy Farrance of Thrift Green Trotters who ran 74:01. The men's team title went to Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners.

In the ladies event, Stowmarket Striders' Tamara Jordan was a clear winner, running 62:55 to finish 15th overall. Maxine Oxlade of Springfield Striders was second lady, finishing 22nd overall in a time of 64:36. Tracey Curl of Norwich Road Runners was third in 67:10, and first F45. Claire Kerr of Ware Joggers retained her F35 title with a run of 68:59, while Janet Pardon of Billericay Striders was first V55 with a time of 76:31. The ladies team title went to Benfleet Running Club.

On the Saturday, Tiptree Road Runners made an encouraging start to the Essex Cross-Country league season with a full scoring team finishing in 12th place out of 20 clubs. In the under-13 girls event, 11-year old Abigail Morgan made her club at cross-country finishing in 33rd place.
