Billericay: Running start to New Year

Ultra keen runners will be welcoming in the New Year by taking on a half marathon through the countryside surrounding Billericay.

Members of Billericay Striders Running Club will be shaking off hangovers to take on the annual run on January 1 which has become a major event in the club's calendar.

The 13.1 mile route will travel from Stock around South Hanningfield reservour on to Wickford then back through Ramsden Heath.

It is quite a challenge, but the club insists it is a very social event with the promise of tasty mince pies at the finishing line providing all the motivation they need.

The run starts off from 12 Well Lane, Stock, at 11am. Anyone wanting more information should call 01277 652855.
